Kitchen Pine Cabinets
Give your kitchen a stylish new look with pine cabinets.
Pine kitchen cabinets are usually made of a combination of solid Pine and plywood or particleboard. The plywood typically constitutes the interior of the cabinet, while the Pine covers the surface of the cabinet, providing strength, durability and natural beauty to the cabinet door. Some cabinetmakers frown on the use of solid Pine (or any solid wood) for cabinet doors, claiming the potential for expansion is too great. However, others maintain that if you live in a temperate, dry climate or maintain this type of environment in your home, the potential for warping is minimal. While some swear by solid wood cabinets, others favor cabinets made with a plywood core and wood veneer of Maple, Oak, Hickory, or Pine. It's important to note that Pine is softer than other popular woods used in cabinet making, such as Maple and Oak, though it tends to be comparable in price. Pine cabinets can be bought off the shelf, semi custom (or stock cabinets) or custom made. Off-the-shelf cabinets, naturally, are the least expensive as they provide the fewest design options. Stock cabinets are continue to be popular as they are not as expensive as custom cabinets, but still afford consumers a moderate selection of custom options. Remember, as you choose Pine cabinets to consider both your aesthetic preference and functional needs.
