Wood Kitchen Cabinets
Nothing looks better than a new set of wood kitchen cabinets.
Cabinets that are made of plywood covered with a wood veneer are known as wood cabinets. These cabinets are generally considered higher quality than cabinets comprised of particleboard, the most widely used material in cabinets today. However, the most expensive wood cabinets are those made of solid wood, where bands of wood-not particleboard or plywood-are glued together to form the width of a door's center panel. There are many different types of wood from which cabinets are made; the most common species include Maple, Oak, Cherry, and Hickory. Some prefer cabinets made from a combination of plywood and wood veneer rather than solid wood, as solid wood has the capacity to expand in humid environments. However, if you live in a temperate, dry climate or maintain such an environment in your home, the risk of wood expansion is minimal. Finally, if quality is a priority for you, you will want to be sure that your cabinets appear uniform in color with consistent grain patterns and are free of any knots or sanding marks; these are all indicators of quality wood cabinetry.
