Corian® Counter Tops
Corian® Countertops are extremely durable and come in many styles.
Corian® is an acrylic-based solid surface material developed by DuPont, which is now fabricated by several manufacturers. Corian® is known for its easy maintenance and widely variety of colors (over 100), including some that resemble glass and quartz. Corian® is favored by some because it is resistant to stains, bacteria, and heat. However, Corain cannot tolerate hot pots or pans directly on its surface; in these cases, a heat trivet or hot pad must be used to prevent damage to the counter. Unlike natural stone such as granite and marble, Corian® is nonporous, like all solid surface materials used in countertops, which prevents stains from permanently settling into the material. And unlike laminate, it does not have a thin top layer, so seams are nonexistent and scratches and defects can be sanded out. Another noteworthy advantage of solid surface countertops is that with it you can install an integral sink, which creates an attractive, seamless installation and additional counter space. The standard Corian® counter is one-half inch thick and one of the most expensive countertop materials on the market. It's customizable and comes with a 10-year warranty guaranteed by Dupont.
