Marble Counter Tops
It is hard to beat the look of a fine marble countertop.
Marble remains a popular natural material for countertops for the elegant, glossy look of its surface and its durability. Marble countertops are usually used in bathrooms, on bars, and around fireplaces as it stains and scratches relatively easily and has less structural integrity than other stone counters, such as granite or concrete. It also has a limited ability to resist heat. For these reasons, granite is usually recommended over marble for kitchen counters. Marble is a completely natural material, which is extracted from quarries in the United States and is also exported from countries such as Spain, Italy, Turkey, Norway, and Brazil. Since it is a natural stone its design and color are unique and, as such, difficult to match. So if you decide to install marble throughout your home, be sure to do it all at once; if you do it piecemeal, you may find it challenging to match the color of your existing marble surfaces. Finally, it's important to remember that Marble is porous and will likely need an application of a surface sealant from time to time.
